MJO is in the middle leaving us with nothing but swirls. Nearly every forecast has it going into a different basin from here..

LAUNCH TODAY

The next launch is the SpaceX CRS-8. It is scheduled for today, April 8th. Window opens for launch at 4:43pm. This is SpaceX's 8th contracted resupply mission to the International Space Station. Weather is 90% chance of go. The slight concern is mostly upper winds. The first stage will attempt it's first ever successful landing on the drone ship named “Of Course I Still Love You”.

Tropics are quiet

These are New..

Had posted something similiar last blog. This is NASA's GEOS-5 model forecast anomalies for April. Last blog was March's forecast for April. These are April's forecast for April.

Left or first is temp anomaly. Shows continued crazy warmth for much of the Arctic, Alaska, Northwest US through west Canada, Southeast Asia, Parts of Africa, Russia, Europe, Australia, overall warm month expected. The other is precipitation anomaly. Reds are excessive rain. For the United States we may see a epic event in Nebraska/South Dakota. Looks potentially really wet across parts of the south like Georgia and southern Alabama. California gets some rain, the Northwest dries out some. Globally South China to Nepal may see flooding. Other areas favored for rain are Central East Africa, Northern South America and Central South America. Drought most likely continuing for Southeast Asia.

Sea Ice on the Rise

Sea ice is making a comeback. On day 97 it crossed out of lowest for the date record territory, for the first time in 7 days, rising above 2007. If the Arctic could keep up this pace of growth for 3 or 4 days were could see a late season peak.

April Weather & Space 2016

By: Skyepony, 3:42 AM GMT on April 01, 2016

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Based on NASA's GEOS-5 model, April should be a warmer than average month for most of the world, parts of the Arctic maybe brutally warm. Mississippi Valley may dry out some. Drier conditions continue for Philippines west through Myanmar. Nepal and the nearby area of China could see epic rains.

The next Space X launch is scheduled for April 8th. Window opens for launch at 4:43pm. This is a contracted resupply mission to the International Space Station. It will also be bringing an inflatable module named BEAM that should get attached and expanded around the end of May or beginning of June, to enlarge the living quarters of the ISS. The module was built by Bigelow Aerospace who licensed NASA's research going back to the 1960s in expandable space satellites like Echo and modules like TransHab after congress cancelled it in 2000.

Bigelow Aerospace was founded by Robert Bigelow his start came from owning the Budget Suites of America and is now trying to put some space hotels in orbit. In 2006 & 2007 they launched their test suites Genesis 1 and Genesis 2, which are still in orbit today. Unfortunately the new tourist destination plan is ahead in development and approval of the vacation launch bus for the tourists. The company was forced to lay off 30-50 workers recently.

Got a placard to view the launch from the Turn Basin at Kennedy Space Center. Check back for more info and pictures.
