My First Blog! (Introduction)

Hi my WU friends! I'm writing this up to give everyone an idea of who I am and why I'm here. I'm currently a student at Western Michigan University studying Aviation Flight Science. I'm halfway through to get my Bachelors of Science as of Summer '11, working on my Commercial and multi-engine certificates right now and I have aspirations of becoming a Coast Guard Aviator. Helos or fixed wing, it doesn't matter to me, I have wanted to fly for literally as long as I can remember.

The world we live in throws some absolutely amazing and ridiculously dangerous weather to the populated, picturesque coasts in the U.S., and I want to be the one who flies straight into whatever the mighty oceans throw at us, rescuing those who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. For I like to think of every citizen like friends and family and I would be willing to risk my life to keep them safe. I only wish I could protect the entire North American continent and all the small and large islands in the Caribbean too.

I've been following and studying weather for many years now to better prepare myself against the oceans and their wrath. I signed up on WU to better my knowledge of tropical systems, as these are likely to be my greatest foes in this chosen career. So with that, I have pulled up my chair along side the other WUers to watch and learn. Now who's bringing the popcorn?

Oh, and I almost forgot, along with aviation and weather, music is my other passion. That would explain the screen name and avatar. I've been playing guitar for at least 10 years and I play countless other instruments to, whatever I can manage to get my hands on. So there, that's "Slamguitar" in a nutshell.
