... Coastal flood advisory in effect until 10 PM CDT this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a coastal flood
advisory, which is in effect until 10 PM CDT this evening.

* Coastal flooding... high water and waves from Lake Superior are
expected to flood onto adjacent low lying land areas, including
the lakewalk of Duluth, Park Point and Brighton beaches, and
portions of Canal Park.

* Timing... through this evening

* impacts... flood waters may affect sidewalks and parking lots
near Lake Superior. Stay out of flooded areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

... Strong northeast winds across the twin ports today...

Strong northeast winds developed over the Northland this morning.
The winds will be strongest over the twin ports and the tip of Lake
Superior, as of 1155 am, most locations have received gusts to 45
mph. The blatnik and bong bridges over the St. Louis river will be
most strongly affected today, and have received gusts of 55 to 60
mph. Wind gusts up to 60 mph are expected for the blatnik and bong
bridges with wind gusts to 50 mph possible at other locations around
the twin ports through late afternoon. Winds will gradually subside
late this afternoon and this evening.

Drivers will encounter strong Crosswinds on the blatnik and bong
bridges today. Travelers should use extra caution on the bridges and
roads today near the twin ports as winds this strong can make
driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles.
