Flood Warning
Issued: 9:40 AM CDT Oct. 21, 2019 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Minnesota river at Montevideo.
* From Tuesday evening until further notice.
* At 9:00 am Monday the stage was 13.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tomorrow evening and continue
to rise to near 15.4 feet by Sunday evening.
* Impact... at 14.0 feet... low lying areas and some roads along the
river begin flooding, along with some basements of houses along the
river.

... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 4 am CDT Tuesday...
... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 4 am to 6 PM CDT
Tuesday...

* what... for the High Wind Warning, northwest winds 30 to 40 mph
with gusts up to 60 mph. For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds
25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.

* Where... Stevens, Pope, Renville, Yellow Medicine, Chippewa,
Kandiyohi, Lac Qui Parle, swift and Redwood counties.

* When... for the High Wind Warning, until 4 am CDT Tuesday. For
the Wind Advisory, from 4 am to 6 PM CDT Tuesday.

* Impacts... damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be
difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.
