The Flood Warning continues for
the Missouri River at Nebraska City.
* At 8:45 PM Saturday the stage was 22.6 feet... or 4.6 feet above
flood stage.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 22.6 feet by
after midnight tomorrow then begin falling.

Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:16 AM CDT Sep. 22, 2019 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Omaha has extended the

* flood advisory for...
southeastern Lancaster County in southeastern Nebraska...
southwestern Otoe County in southeastern Nebraska...
northeastern Gage County in southeastern Nebraska...

* until 945 am CDT Sunday.

* At 316 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain causing minor
flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have
already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hickman, Firth, Cortland, Panama, Stagecoach state Recreation Area
and wagon train state Recreation Area.

Additional rainfall of one to one and one-half inches is expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect until 1 PM CDT this
afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southwest Iowa and southeast Nebraska, including
the following areas, in southwest Iowa, Fremont and Page. In
southeast Nebraska, gage, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, and
Richardson.

* Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon

* thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to continue over the
region this morning. Rainfall totals of a half an inch to two
and a half inches have already fallen and an additional one to
three inches are possible.

* Rapid rises of rivers, streams, and low water crossing could
occur. Roadways may become flooded.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
