Tides will continue to run about one foot above normal today.
However, coastal flooding is not expected. Therefore, the coastal
flood advisory has been allowed to expire.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
Jefferson County in southeastern Texas...
southeastern Hardin County in southeastern Texas...
western Orange County in southeastern Texas...

* until 845 am CDT.

* At 648 am CDT, Doppler radar and area gages indicated heavy rain
due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding in the advisory area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have
fallen across parts of the area, and additional rainfall is
expected over the next few hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Beaumont, Port Arthur, Nederland, Vidor, Sour Lake, Nome, Hamshire,
Central Gardens, Sabine Pass, Bevil Oaks, China, Rose City, Pine
Forest, Port Acres, Fannett, La Belle, southeast Texas regional
Airport and sea rim State Park.

Additional rainfall of up to 2 inches is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Thursday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas, including
the following areas, in southwest Louisiana, Beauregard,
Calcasieu, East Cameron, and West Cameron. In southeast Texas,
Hardin, Jefferson, northern Jasper, northern Newton, Orange,
southern Jasper, southern Newton, and Tyler.

* Through Thursday evening

* 2 to 6 inches of rainfall in far southwest Louisiana with
isolated higher amounts. 4 to 9 inches of rain is forecast for
southeast Texas with 12 inches or more possible in isolated
locations.

* Heavy rainfall in a short period of time may overwhelm
drainage systems causing flooding of streets and low lying
areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
