Issued: 9:10 AM MDT Oct. 17, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Air quality health advisory for wildfire smoke from 800 am
Thursday until 900 am Friday...

The Colorado department of public health and environment has
issued the following...

What... air quality health advisory for wildfire smoke.

Where... Chaffee, Fremont counties.

When... 800 am Thursday October 17 to 900 am Friday October 18

Additional details... periods of moderate to heavy smoke are
expected from the Decker wildfire, located in the Sangre de Cristo
wilderness, approximately 2 miles south of Salida. Winds will be
mainly out of the west and southwest on Thursday, transporting
smoke to locations east and northeast of the fire. Winds will turn
strong and gusty by Thursday afternoon, increasing fire activity
and smoke production. Overnight Thursday night the winds will turn
somewhat lighter, but remain gusty at times. Smoke impacts will
continue to be felt for areas immediately east and northeast of
the fire, possibly bringing periods of moderate to heavy smoke to
Salida, Cleora, Wellsville, Howard, Coaldale, and Cotopaxi.

Health information... public health recommendations: if smoke is
thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain
indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease,
respiratory illnesses, the very Young, and the elderly. Consider
