The Colorado department of public health and environment has
issued the following...

What... air quality health advisory for wildfire smoke.

Where... Chaffee, Fremont counties.

When... 800 am Thursday October 17 to 900 am Friday October 18

Additional details... periods of moderate to heavy smoke are
expected from the Decker wildfire, located in the Sangre de Cristo
wilderness, approximately 2 miles south of Salida. Winds will be
mainly out of the west and southwest on Thursday, transporting
smoke to locations east and northeast of the fire. Winds will turn
strong and gusty by Thursday afternoon, increasing fire activity
and smoke production. Overnight Thursday night the winds will turn
somewhat lighter, but remain gusty at times. Smoke impacts will
continue to be felt for areas immediately east and northeast of
the fire, possibly bringing periods of moderate to heavy smoke to
Salida, Cleora, Wellsville, Howard, Coaldale, and Cotopaxi.

Health information... public health recommendations: if smoke is
thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain
indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease,
respiratory illnesses, the very Young, and the elderly. Consider
limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.
Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is
making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in
your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.

The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Fire Weather
Watch for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in
effect from Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening.

* Winds... thursday: west 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Saturday: west 20 to 30 with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Timing... 11 am through 9 PM MDT, Thursday. A Fire Weather Watch
is in effect for Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening.

* Relative humidity... 5 to 10 percent.

* Impacts... conditions will be favorable for the rapid ignition,
