Air Quality Alert
Issued: 7:10 AM MDT Oct. 23, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Air quality health advisory for wildfire smoke from 700 am
Wednesday until 900 am Thursday...

The Colorado department of public health and environment has
issued the following...

What... air quality health advisory for wildfire smoke.

Where... Archuleta County.

When... 700 am Wednesday October 23 to 900 am Thursday October 24

Additional details... dry conditions with occasionally gusty winds
have increased smoke production from a prescribed burn that was
completed several weeks ago. For Wednesday morning, areas of
moderate to heavy smoke will impact just a small portion of
western Archuleta County. The main area impacted includes
locations along State Highway 160 to the east of Yellowjacket
Pass, eastward to the town of Piedra. Smoke will decrease
Wednesday afternoon, but could increase again after sunset and
continue periodically through early Thursday morning.

Health information... public health recommendations: if smoke is
thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain
indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease,
respiratory illnesses, the very Young, and the elderly. Consider
limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.
Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is
making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in
your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.
