National Weather Service
... Freezing fog advisory in effect from 10 PM this evening to
10 am PST Friday...
* what... visibility less than 1/4 mile in freezing fog.
* Where... Mineral and southern Lyon counties and western Nevada
basin and range including Pyramid Lake.
* When... from 10 PM this evening to 10 am PST Friday.
* Impacts... hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility
and potential frost on bridges.
* Additional details... freezing and below freezing temperatures
will combine with fog to result in low visibility and slick, icy
Road conditions. Leave extra time for your morning commute on
Friday.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A light coating of ice may develop and result in dangerous
driving conditions. It will be very easy to lose control of your
vehicle even if all wheel and four wheel drive vehicles. Check
Road conditions before you go and if possible, avoid travel until
conditions improve. Slow down and avoid braking and making sudden
turns. Be careful walking outside as slipping and falling greatly
increases the risk of injuries.

National Weather Service
... Fog impacts again tonight. Winter storm Friday night into
Sunday...
* areas of low clouds and fog will likely redevelop tonight in
many valleys of western Nevada into far northeast California.
The fog will be somewhat hit and miss, so expect rapidly
changing visibilities and possibly icy spots on roadways. This
could impact the Friday morning commute.
* A moderate winter storm will then roll into the region starting
Friday evening. For western Nevada gusty south winds and light
scattered rain showers are forecast Friday evening through most
of Saturday. Travel impacts due to wind are possible on normally
wind prone roads. Up in the mountains periods of heavy snow are
likely Friday evening Onward with major impacts across the
passes.
* A period of heavier rains is likely Saturday evening before
changing to snow by Sunday morning. The heavy rains could lead
to minor flooding of poor drainage areas. Snow impacts to
travel are possible early Sunday morning however accumulation
amounts remain uncertain.
* Prepare now for this next storm by ensuring your vehicle is
ready for snow. Plan on there being travel delays due to rain or
snow this weekend. Also take some time to check and clean
gutters and drains around your property.
