... Hot afternoons forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday for portions of
the San Francisco Bay area and central coast...

.Strong high pressure over California along with offshore winds will
bring a significant warming trend resulting in very warm to
hot temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday. High temperatures are
forecast to be anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees above average. These
temperatures will result in heat impacts to those who are sensitive
to heat and potentially to those who overexert themselves in the
daytime heat.

The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a heat
advisory, which is in effect from 11 am to 7 PM PDT Tuesday. A
heat advisory has also been issued from 11 am to 7 PM PDT
Wednesday.

* Temperatures...
San Francisco Bay shoreline... 86 to 96...
North Bay valleys and mountains... 93 to 106...
East Bay valleys... 99 to 103...
Santa Clara Valley... 93 to 104...
northern Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains... 94 to 101...
southern Monterey Bay... 82 to 92...
Salinas valley... 92 to 105...

* timing... Tuesday from 11 am to 7 PM, and from 11 am to 7 PM on
Wednesday. The highest temperatures will occur during early to
mid afternoon each day.

* Impacts... the heat may cause an increased risk of heat related
illnesses. Heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and
heat stroke will be possible. People most vulnerable include
those who are spending considerable time outdoors... those who
do not have air conditioning... Young children... the elderly...
and those with chronic ailments.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. Hot temperatures will create a situation in which heat
illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-
conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on
relatives and neighbors.
