Watches & Warnings

High Surf Advisory, Coastal Hazard Statement
Issued: 4:52 AM GMT Sep. 17, 2019 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory remains in effect through tonight...
... High risk of rip currents through tonight...

* along west facing reefs... hazardous surf of 8 to 10 feet will
subside to below 9 feet by Wednesday morning.

* Dangerous rip currents are still expected along south and west
facing reefs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not venture out along west facing reefs and beaches. Large
breaking waves can knock you down and cause serious injuries.
Strong rip currents will be life threatening.

There is a high risk of rip currents along south and west facing
shores. If you become caught in a rip current... swim parallel to
shore and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to
swim directly against the current as you will tire quickly. Heed
the advice of lifeguards.
