Tonight
Southwest winds to 30 kt becoming gales to 35 kt after midnight. Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly cloudy. Waves 2 to 4 ft building to 3 to 6 ft occasionally to 8 ft after midnight.
Tuesday
Southwest gales to 35 kt. Slight chance of showers through the day. Waves 4 to 7 ft occasionally to 9 ft building to 5 to 8 ft occasionally to 10 ft in the afternoon.
Tuesday Night
West gales to 35 kt diminishing to 15 to 20 kt after midnight. Mostly cloudy in the evening then clearing. Waves 4 to 7 ft occasionally to 9 ft subsiding to 3 to 5 ft after midnight.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Gale
Warning, which is in effect until 4 PM CDT this afternoon. A
Small Craft Advisory has also been issued. This Small Craft
Advisory is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 3 am CDT
Tuesday. The Small Craft Advisory is no longer in effect.

* Winds... southeast to 35 kts this morning becoming southwest to
30 kt in the late afternoon through tonight. Southwest gales 35
to 40 kts developing late tonight and continuing through
Tuesday.

* Significant waves... to 5 ft today and to 7 ft tonight and
Tuesday.

* Occasional waves... to 9 ft tonight and Tuesday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
