For the eastern North Pacific, east of 140 degrees west longitude:

Tropical cyclone activity during October was below average for
the eastern North Pacific basin, with two named storms forming
during the month. Neither of them became a hurricane. At the
beginning of the month, Tropical Storm Narda was located near the
West Coast of Mexico, but it quickly weakened and dissipated later
that day.  Based on a 30-year (1981-2010) climatology, two named
storms typically form in the eastern Pacific during October, with
one of those storms becoming a hurricane and one reaching major
hurricane intensity every other year.

In terms of accumulated cyclone energy (ace), which measures the
strength and duration of tropical storms and hurricanes, activity
in the basin so far in 2019 is near the long-term mean.
