Watches & Warnings

Freeze Warning, Wind Advisory
Issued: 5:31 AM CST Nov. 12, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening...
... Freeze warning remains in effect from 6 PM this evening to
9 am CST Wednesday...

* what... for the freeze warning, sub-freezing temperatures falling
into the 20s expected across much of the area with temperatures
right at freezing along the immediate coast. For the Wind
Advisory, north winds 15 to 20 mph with frequent gusts up to 30
mph expected across much of the area and winds of 20 to 30 mph
with frequent higher gusts along the immediate coast.

* Where... portions of south central and southwest Alabama,
northwest Florida, and southeast Mississippi.

* When... for the freeze warning, from this evening until Wednesday
morning. For the Wind Advisory, now until this evening.

* Impacts... frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation, and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.
Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may
result.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
