Beach Hazard Statement
Issued: 11:42 AM PDT Oct. 18, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Beach hazards statement now in effect until 9 PM PDT this
evening...

* timing... large surf will continue today, before gradually
diminishing into Saturday.

* Impacts... surf heights will reach 18 to 20 feet today along
west and northwest facing beaches. Steep beaches will have a
higher risk of greater wave run-up onto beaches. Large waves
will also wash over jetties and rock outcroppings that may
normally stay dry.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazard statement is issued when threats such as sneaker
waves and high surf create life-threatening conditions in the
surf zone. Caution should be used when at the beach.
