Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 9:17 PM EDT Oct. 16, 2019 – National Weather Service

... The urban and small stream flood advisory remains in effect until
1000 PM EDT for southern Fairfield... Hudson... eastern Passaic...
Union... Bergen... Essex... southeastern Orange... Queens... Richmond...
Bronx... Kings... Rockland... Westchester... western Suffolk... New York
(manhattan) and Nassau counties...

At 915 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that the heaviest rain has
moved out of the area. Additional light to briefly moderate rain
continues, with up to an additional half inch possible. Any urban
and small;l stream flooding will be slowly subsiding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
